Murdered Megan

by Em   Dec 4, 2020

Red chested Robins race the
crowds of crows across the
distant as daylight disappears;
the tearaway teens who truant
walk willfully to the newsagents.

Confectionery and cigars in hand,
bullets, blood and bodies on the floor.

Sunday, Sergeant Smith searches the scene.

Mortified, his darling Megan lays murdered
but beggars belief he can't lament her life
for frolicking Fred has been married forty years
to beautiful Beatrice who he'd met in Birmingham.

Little did Smithy know...

Dainty Daniel, Smithy's son murdered Megan
for frolicking Fred's affair was not secret news.

    This is a work of genius. As I read through, I thought, Em has lost her mind, but then the conclusion was fantastic. Like a Sherlock story, all mysterious until the end

    Well done. X
