where dreams unfurl in the veil of moonlight –
you are there, blossoming like night-jasmines
in the thick canopy of the ephemeral,
a land spanning from tulip trees to
the sandalwoods. fevered in child-like wonder,
i chase you, wanting to kiss the morning dew
that collects in your eyes. running through
meadows and marshes, past where the
wild animals sleep, ensnared by your gaze,
you hold me hostage. parched, famished,
i see the moon swell in your eyes and
you offer me naught but chains and rope,
massaging with scented oils before your
tongue lashes out at me, testing the limits
of what the heart and soul can bear.

i wake drenched, tasting sea-foam,
realizing my heart chartered
a course to you already.

I was not familiar with the title so I looked it up:

It literally means "crushing", a term used to refer to the process of breaking an elephant's spirit (usually when they're young), taming them for domestication by using cage restrictions; sometimes with corporal punishment and negative reinforcement so that they can be trained for tourist activities. Also called elephant crushing. Training crush. This is horrible. Heartbreaking. I learn a lot from reading your poems.
