Untitled (NaPoWriMo Day 6)

by Star   Apr 6, 2021

The moon had just settled in the sky
when you performed a contemporary
dance, with silence as your music.

Bare foot on the sand surrounded by
a breeze that cradled the remnants
of untainted memories.

You knew the specks that got
between your toes, have lived more
centuries than you could ever count,

you envied them.

You knew they’ve seen hope in all
its forms, in the eyes of many people,
the breath of an animal, and even
in a parched land.

You yearned for a taste,
so you kept dancing.

A really lovely free verse. I especially liked the last two lines, as they were a perfect finish.
