The Rose

A harmless red rose
Took upon my sight
And it was deceiving
But I picked it with my might.

Too hard, I seized
Forgetting the thorns
The tips of my fingers bleed
And I am now torn.

Carelessly,
I hold the rose to my cheek
A tear silently rolls down
And makes me appear meek.

I try to forget the pain,
And reminisce times with you.
But they are lost. I cannot find them.
Where did I put my thoughts of you?

Yes, I solemnly remember
I buried them deep inside,
The scar is etched on my heart and wrist
I think I am about to lose my mind.

So lonely I am now,
But I look at the rose
How it defies me
I never will know.

Staring at it,
I become in a trance.
In my mind is strange
Because all it does is dance.

The rose controls me
And being unhesitant, I obey
The pain I feel, I never doubt
Cause I won’t survive either way.

My tears are hard but they fall
Onto the red petals so delicately.
The rose, still clutched to my cheek,
Is now damp but beautifully.

Each memory I dare to remember,
A petal falls to the ground.
Then crumbles and fades to gray
Old feelings rush to me and are found.

The pain is unbearable
The petals are no longer red
All have fallen off
And now comes our death.

In heaven I arrive,
The golden gates open for me.
You wait, holding a beautiful rose.
Again I gaze and yet it still deceives.

You drop the rose with a smile
And it falls through the clouds
Down and down it goes
I dive until it is found.

Darkness has risen
And fires are now here
We burn in eternal misery
And cry a crimson tear.

The rose is gone and so am I,
It resembled my life,
Beautiful, used, but untouched,
Misleading and a stem of knives.

Back in the garden
Where I was at first,
All the other roses are happy
And are quenched of their thirst.
