Will you sit beside me?

by Rachel E F Allen   Dec 10, 2004

The first broken promise should have made me run
The first view of dishonesty in your eyes
How can you escape an all encompassing force
That delivers nothing but lies, lies, lies
I don’t understand I never looked away
My blood now cold from your mistrust
How did it ever come to this
My body decaying from loss of your lust
So will you sit beside my soily head
Will you notice the fresh gold paint
Will you remember how you broke my broken heart
Will the pain of it make you feel faint
Will the drops on my grave be tears from your eyes
Will you realise what you have done
Will you be able to hold yourself up straight and tall
As the murderer you have become
Will you remember my whispers, my secrets, my love
Our secret hand hold, my song, my cry
Will you remember the day I said I’d die without you
Or just my letter that said goodbye
