You took time to listen
to what was on my mind
you seemed so different
so caring and kind

i thought i knew you
could trust you so well
yet i was mistaken and
my life's back to hell

I told you everything
things no one else knew
you held my hand
and talked things through

Why did you pretend
to understand and care
to give me false hope
stopping the nightmares

you listened to me
when no-one else dared
it was so unexpected
i wasn't prepared

you helped me see
things weren't so bad

a friendship we had
