Old man in the park.

by Steven Beesley   Jun 23, 2005

Today I saw a lonely old man in the park. He sat all alone under a tree, in the deep shade and in the dark. He had a blank stare, as though he saw nothing there, all alone in the dark. I felt he may be destitute?

I felt sorry for the old man in the park. I approached him and politely asked what he was doing in the park? His blank stare was again what confronted me.

This was before he told me, he was alone with no where to go except each day to the park. His companions there were the pigeons that he would share his daily lunch in the park. He would rather do this then stay at home, all alone and in the dark.

He told me of a time when he once was in love, but now lost and gone. So now he must wander the park; alone for the rest of his days under a tree in the dark.

I told him that he now has a friend and that I would spend time to visit and talk with him in the park. There would be no need for him to sit all alone under the tree and in the dark.
