Everlasting memories

by Lonely Heart .ღ.   Jun 25, 2005

You gently lower the rose on the tombstone
his pain ran so deep
yet to you he'd never show
a life of lies he managed to keep

as a tear rolls down your cheek
thoughts of him make you so weak

you can never forget
all you manage to do is regret

these memories and thoughts crush you
most of which you wont believe is true

to you he seems to innocent and pure
people told you different, but you could believe it
you didn't ever know it for sure

you sit and think about your little boy
remembering how he use to play with his toys
how he brought you so many joys

how did it all go wrong
did you make him feel like he didn't belong?

what made him feel like he had to go away
what in his life made him not want to stay?

you just blame yourself
you wish you could of helped

if only you knew how he felt
you could of found a way he could of dealt

theres nothing left to be done
all you can do is miss your son

you have nothing left except your everlasting memories

I'd suggest improving the rhyming to make it sound less forced, or you could even do without it because I think this would stand up well on its own without the rhyming at all. I really like the whole tone of this - the imagery is vivid and I think the last line is awesome :)

i like the way you used the rhyming style...brings out the poems sadness...although you can improve the last part...it looks as if it is incomplete...but the rest is okay..i gve it a 4/5...:D
