Poem For Lost Souls

Despair is the last emotion before death,
Life is the journey towards the dark,
Embrace the dark night and the silver stars,
Their cold comfort is the only truth.

If stars could weep, their diamond tears would cut your soul,
If the dark could speak, it would say: "give up hope",
If night could sing, it would lament the lost souls,
If moonlight could bring warmth to my cold heart I would be free.

The cold night is my only friend,
The winds embrace my only comfort,
The stars are all that guide me,
And hope is only a memory.

Silver snakes of sorrow twine around my heart,
Black vines of misery smother my mind,
My grief is a chain around my neck,
And isolation a dark cloak on my shoulders.

My soul burns with frozen flames,
Life slips through my fingers like silk,
My eyes are dry, I have no more tears to give,

I am alone, now and always.

*I was in a very strange emotional state when I wrote this, the imagery is a little repetitive but it's meant to be that way. I don't know if this is meant to be a poem or a song... judge for yourselves.*
