Blackbird.

by Steven Beesley   Jan 18, 2006

Blackbird:

Oh Blackbird,
so common and so despised are thee.
Yet you own the countryside,
so many of you across the seas.

So many take such a dislike to thee,
but you shall inherit the earth.
The meek shall always fight to stand tall and free.
Free from all discrimination, a life to be free.

Your many numbers always seemingly
sit and stare in defiance.
Many feel that you are one of nature's imperfections,
you will always seem for many to be.

Always strength in your numbers,
you shall conquer the world
and one day you shall all be free!
So carry on wayward sons, strive on and conquer all you see!

Great piece-unusual subject, great flow and it says so much.I love how it starts out a bit negative and by the last stanza has turned into a powerful inspirational message.
