The road I've taken

by Bridgette   Feb 5, 2006

I looked down to wards my future's path
But all I saw was Satan's wrath
Taking hold of my fateful flight
Darkness surrounding me, no light in sight
I laid my head down on a cloud of broken dreams
The emptiness just echoed my deafening screams
The stars cried blood and the moon turned black
This is the road I've chosen, no turning back
But I chose this road to be with you
And all you did was leave me too
I sat alone for days and days
But started back on my journey's ways
I'd never felt so broken hearted
Than that moment we departed
I walked alone for a while
Showing no emotion but a fake smile
I heard my name screamed through the black
But I was so scared to turn back
I took a glance back and spun around
There was a man lying on the ground
His face seemed so familiar and yet so strange
It was my lost love, how much he had changed
He looked of death and his skin was pale
He seemed so lost and very frail
His deep blue eyes had turned to gray
He looked as if he'd never seen the light of day
He held out his hand and asked for my assistance
To guide him through this harrowing distance
I looked down at this unearthly being
And wondered at what I was really seeing
I gently touched his hand and cried
I could feel myself dying on the inside
I left my lover that day to die
And never looked back to say goodbye
