X I Only See Your Face

by Sole   Mar 15, 2006

I'm trapped inside a classroom
Staring into space
I can't see the teacher
I only see your face

I look outside a window
A tear springs to my eye
A sorrowful bird flies past
A single magpie

Then I hear an ambulance
It's piercing siren wailing
I'm not listening to the teacher
I'm already failing

Class is suddenly silent
Classmates throw me glances
The teachers asking me a question
But I don't know the answers

I shrug my saddened shoulders
And sigh, 'I don't know'
This lesson is killing my soul
But I've nowhere else to go

I'm trapped inside a classroom
Staring into space
I can't see the teacher
I only see your face
Your face.

Sole, what made this poem brilliant was the way
You described the classroom and the things you
Heard and saw. The more you explained about
The things around you the more I could feel as
If I was there. And the more I stared at the space,
The more I was trapped inside you and was
drowned in your emotions. A very good poem
    in my opinion.
    Much love,
