Dressed in Black

by Kaylee   Mar 22, 2006

Dressed in black, I mourn for my country.
Newspaper clippings reveal another death.
Black words print images on my eyelids.
Wipe them please, these tears forever falling.

Dressed in black, I mourn for their lives.
Smoke filled rooms with nothing opened.
Not one door to escape from the building fire.
Fire which burns in the eyes of the stalker.

Dressed in black, I mourn for that child.
Needing comfort but not receiving any.
Forever missing what he never knew.
Never knowing what they will not tell.

Dressed in black, I mourn for that girl.
Innocent soul wandering the broken street.
Crowded world never really hearing her voice.
Wipe them please, these tears forever falling.

Dressed in black because I like the shade.

Honest? It was excellent. The repitition really gives the poem that bit more er . . . something? It's so hard to explain! I really liked it, 5/5

    Peace. [Sole]
