I'll Never Forget You

by Tara   Feb 4, 2004

I found this today while I was cleaning through some old boxes. It is a true story about my best friend that was killed in a car crash back on 2/28/98.

Happy birthday to you, it's number ten
Try to remember that time when
Passing double digits, smiling so wide,
Behind mommy's leg, you'd no longer hide.

Remember when you became a teen?
So many cute guys we both had seen.
All those nights we talked on the phone,
I took them for granted, I wish I had known.

Then sixteen came in no time at all,
Little could you anticipate the fall
That was to come seven months before
You turned seventeen, a fact you'd ignore.

Why would you think about a fact
You knew not of, then could not react
When the car crashed down along the farms,
Your present, past, and future up in arms.

Flown to the hospital later that day
Nothing could be done, your soul went away.
Now with no more memories to bid
A part of me died too when you did.

And in the future, painful hearts will mend,
But I'll never forget you, Diann, my best friend.
