Tradin' For Cowgirl Boots

by Kaylee   Jun 15, 2006

Verse One
Wanna know one final thing tonight,
As we pull from a lover's embrace,
Could you look in my eyes if I quit,
'Cause dreams ain't what they used to be,

Verse Two
Wanna know if this city gal has heart,
Been knocked down storm after storm,
Country callin' an' I wanna answer,
Thinkin' time might need a change,

Chorus
In wide open spaces, guitar and I,
A city gal could find inspiration high,
An' bleedin' fingers can't stop me now,
Gonna strum these strings til I faint,
An' trade these shoes for cowgirl boots,

Verse Three
Wanna know one final thing tonight,
As I've had 'nough of phone calls,
Can waitin' on leavin' change,
Sorry can't stay 'nother minute,

Verse Four
Ain't that music I'm a hearin'
Wanna bring some to my town,
It might be a dot on some map,
But to me, it'd be my new home,

Chorus
In wide open spaces, guitar and I,
A city gal could find inspiration high,
An' bleedin' fingers can't stop me now,
Gonna strum these strings til I faint,
An' trade these shoes for cowgirl boots,

Bridge
I'm a sayin' country is a callin'
'Fraid I'm a gonna have to answer,
Can't stick 'round pretendin',
Out west is where I wanna be,

Chorus
In wide open spaces, guitar and I,
A city gal could find inspiration high,
An' bleedin' fingers can't stop me now,
Gonna strum these strings til I faint,
An' trade these shoes for cowgirl boots,

An' trade these shoes for cowgirl boots

I'd want to hear the music on this one, because though it reads fine as a poem, I'm having trouble finding my rhythm on my own. I liked the title, and the line in the poem. I thought that the story was interesting and that it's all well done, though I expected it to rhyme for some reason. Good work.

Haha, I love the title. I would really like to hear this piece sung. I'm thinking about writing some music to lyrics I have. I'll post those lyrics once I get a nice acoustic guitar to record with.
