The Goodbye that Wouldn't End

Everyone is stuck in the middle
Not knowing what to do
Never expected you to get sick
We are lonely and confused

You are between life and death
So what do you call that?
You know the end is on it's way
But that's not where you're at

Still living doesn't seem to fit
What you are doing now
More like waiting to finish this
Not knowing when, but how

I feel like crying, then screaming
Then hitting the pillow again
I'm losing you and still you're here
I'm dying deep within

I can feel you and hug you
Touch you because you are real
But I get angry inside
Because I don't like what I feel

Like a dead man walking
It's death that plays in your eyes
But still you're up and going
And I feel this isn't right

This is worse than losing you
In a moment, just being gone
At least it would be over
I could grieve and be done

But you're still here to talk to
And still so very much alive
Though I'm glad you're here
It's like a never ending goodbye

    Aww this is so sad! I can relate to this feeling, I felt like that with my kids dad for months before we broke up. I really like this poem but it made my eyes watery, anyways thank you for commenting on a few of my poems. I also voted a 5 on this one.

    This poem is among the best poems i have read of urs. the ryhimg was so natural and it wasn't forced. i love the emotion. and the title is so eye catching. i also loved the last verse!

    hehe i am 12 i just love writing poems and over the years my vocab has grown. especially from reading other peoples poems.

    once again Great write! keep writing so i can keep reading!

    I love this poem. Its very sad and gets across the torment that you feel when you are losing someone but they are not quite gone. Well thats how i interpreted it. I thought it was great. Definate 5/5.
