Faded Lipgloss (Italian Sonnet)

by *Charisma*   Dec 4, 2006

Faded Lipgloss (Italian Sonnet)
(my first one, and done for a contest)
I put on my face and walked out the door.
We are to meet at the cafe so soon,
Then later take a walk 'neath the pale moon.
And hopefully our love we can restore.
You're not here but I wait a little more.
I apply some lipgloss in dark maroon.
To pass the time, I hum a happy tune.
Still, you don't show, and the rain starts to pour.

So I take the walk meant just for us two,
Caressed by the shadows of faint moonlight.
Lonely I am, but this feeling's not new.
I reach for my purse, but I don't feel right.
Why should I put on what was all for you?
Faded lipgloss reflects my lost inner fight.

I give you praise for writing a sonnet for starters. I find that those are difficult to write, from personal experience. [I just write usually] This is written beautifully and your word choice was amazing. 5/5
