Losing the Flame

by *Charisma*   Jan 9, 2007

Losing the Flame

The flame within my soul is building into a fire
And I'm afraid no rain will flicker out this desire

It seeped into my skin and burned a fierce hole
These thoughts of you are finally taking their toll

And these windblown cheeks are flushed with fear
Though thoroughly drenched with every tear

I'm fighting each one as they simply roll down
As if each plea just needed to drown

I hand over my strength and surrender all power
My courage is weakened like a crumbling tower

Each rock that falls is like a piece of my heart
Breaking from the outside in as it falls apart

Is there any way to fix the damage done?
Or is this a battle that cannot be won?

I loved those two lines, is this a type of sonnet by any chance? I just saw the 14 lines, lol.
    5/5 as always!

Beautifully penned sad poem. A broken heart sure does give a poet a lot to write about. Nice job!
