The Angel

by ephemera   Jan 12, 2007

You call me your angel
Can you not see the truth,
Can you see these scars
Depressed and abused.
I've tried to fly again
So many times I've tried,
Hoping to escape the fires of hell
Before its my time to die.

I want to be free again
To feel the warmth of the sun,
I want to be on the winning side
When the age old battle is won.
I want to be happy
To live and to fall love,
I want to be safe
In the arms of my Father above.

I know you see me
The angel that is inside,
And you won't stop believing
I am your reason in life.
And it is for you
That I will try everyday,
And every night before sleep comes
It is for you I pray.

Though I may fall
You still love me,
You make me feel again
And I love you completely.
But today I cannot fly
My feathers lay scattered on the ground,
And though you will try to piece them together
I'm afraid I will only let you down.
