For the Children

by *Charisma*   Feb 5, 2007

(written like a child watching their parents fight.)

Why can't you both stop
The yelling, the blaming, the hate
Neither one can shut up
And the anger you aggravate.

I'm so sick of crying these tears
And seeing you both at your worst.
Why can't you go back to the way
You both were at the first?

I can't stand pointing the finger
When you both should have one in your face
The way that you treat each other...
I try to simply look away

But the shouts echo through walls
And into these young pained ears
I'm tired of listening to fights
That never solve fallen tears.

I don't want to hear another threat
That one of you is leaving
Sick of all the accusations
And words through heavy breathing

I wish I could run far away
A backpack with just what I need
I hate being a victim of
This anger that you both feed

Please silence all your cries
All your dislikes, and reasons to fight
Please make up and be partners
For the children's sake tonight

Wow, this is so true and sometimes people get so caught up in this, that they forget about the effect on their children. Very well written.
