City

by GretaInsideOut   Jul 16, 2007

Broken hearts shattered around this city,
Mistaken people taken for something they're not.
Thoughts of better slip down a lonely drain.
Lonely nights, lonely souls.

Broken homes around this city.

I walk around this city,
Watch broken people on it's steps,
Waiting for a payment for their fix,
All alone I walk, with sadness in my heart.
The pain they feel.

Win the rat-race in the city.

I wind around this city,
It drowns you with it's walls,
Cold and bitter alleys,
No place for rest.

Broken homes around this city,
Win the rat-race in the city,
People are lost in my city,
Youth drown in my city.

Pollution rots my city,
Simple nightmares roam it's territory.
Cold and lonesome heartache from the people of the night.
These people have no bed,
These people lie alone.

People are lost in my city.

Passers-by don't care to look,
Upon the ones who dare to dream,
Of a better time amongst the shelter they lack,
And the time they slip away.

Youth drown in my city.

But still nobody will watch them,
It's as if our society doesn't care.
Maybe one day they can watch,
Watch the lonely souls,
Scattered around our streets.
