Heaven Sent

Mummy wont you tuck me in and check my cupboard to
I think the elf has got my shirt the goblin has my shoe
Mummy wont you check the window and look under my bed
Mummy find my puppy dog he hasn't yet been fed

Mummy will the fairies come to watch me while I sleep
and mummy why does daddy cry why does daddy weep
mummy why wont you answer me why wont you shed a tear
mummy I need you here with me to help me chase my fear
mummy wont you get my brother and lay him in bed
let me hold him close to me let me kiss his head

daddy let me sit by you so I can feel you near
let me smell your aftershave and whisper in your ear
daddy will the angel come will she come take me away
mummy will she come tomorrow will she come today

mummy wont you say you love me, why wont you set me free
daddy wont the fairies come why wont they play with me
I haven't been a bad boy I have done nothing wrong
mummy should I tell you I haven't got to long

so mummy get my daddy get my brother from his chair
tell them I don't like this mummy tell them its not fair
mummy if you listened you would see this was a test
but mummy you were ignorant you thought that you knew best
daddy when I did get sick I thought that you were sad
but then it turned to anger daddy you were mad

you hope you prayed and wished that the doctors they were wrong
but all it did was show you that the only way to remain was strong
mummy it is yes I think its time to leave
daddy will you promise that for once you will believe

that I will be here with you in spirit and in mind
and let mummy know that the angel she is kind
I want you to remember the happy boy that was here
not the little sick boy that whispered in your ear

hold my hand tight my brother never let me go
tell mummy I love her and daddy Ill miss him so
wipe the water from your eyes don't you shed a tear
remember me as your brother that once stood with you here
now its time to leave and I will say goodbye
mummy can you promise me that you wont ever cry
tell daddy and mummy its not the end

that I will flow with you until my rivers bend
let them cry all through the night
even when Ive lost this fight
ill be watching from the tree
deep in the woods when heaven sets me free

    This is so sad, filled with emotions, it brought the tears in my eyes in the last two stanzas.
    Excellently written piece from the beginning to the end, every part is great, filled with superb and touching descriptions.
    The imagery in this poem is fantastic, especially in the parts with fairies and angels.
    Amazingly done!

    Hey,
    beautiful and so sad, its a very emotion and straight from the heart poem. I think its great that you used the words mummy and daddy multiple times, it made the child in the poem look soo young and innocent. when I saw the length of the poem, I thought: I hope it isn't boring. but when I read the first line, you had me till the end! 5/5
