A Bridge Between Two Eyes [Lento]

by The Queen of Spades   Nov 6, 2007

Heart, an organ meant to be broken
Part painful and half divine
Tart is the taste of shattered joy, a
Dart of agony dipped in wine

Brain, an organ meant to be divided
Feign the order of sweet demise
Pain reveals where dichotomy
Lain, in a bridge between two eyes

A poetic style called "Lento" where the rhyme scheme of every first word in each stanza is AAAA BBBB and the rhyme scheme of the last words are ABCB ABCB

I've never seen this style or I never realized it before. I think you did a great job in keeping with the style and still conveying the message.

I agree with the others - your title was great. Many times I read a poem based on the title, I'm curious to read more.
