Emptiness is a Funny Place

by The Queen of Spades   Jan 11, 2008

How eyes flutter
Through prisms of glass
Breathe once, blink twice
And the spell is cast
Oh, divine affection
Beneath moon so fair
Sinks billowy smoke
Through the frosty air
Cry out, dear embrace
With clammy fingers
Touch heat, so bright
Until burning lingers
A slender figure
Whose heart, disgraced
The world treated it
Like a dismal race
But call out the sky
Hope, faith, and love
Tricky subjects, yes
Though not enough
A noose fits well
Across cheap sorrow
Yet through the loophole
Slides out tomorrow
And how eyes flutter
Through prisms of glass
A colored future,
A forgotten past

Superbly written. I would echo on Khalid Sir's comment that you indeed are Queen of Dark. How beautifully have you sketched this piece.
One of my favorites on PnQ
    Keep writing:)

OMG! If I have the rights I'll ask you to change your nickname to "The Queen of Dark". Baby, what's this? This is an approval that you really live the dark poems!!! You know, if I tell you something you won't believe me. Every word here in this poem became engraved in my mind (the narrow mind). I loved the idea of prisms of glass, eyes and colors...and how you connected all in a physical reaction.
Brilliant as always. Thank you again. This poem is added to my favorites.

So I clicked on this because the title caught my eye, and let me say, I didn't think it'd be anywhere near as good as it turned out to be. You have such a gift. Such talent. I enjoyed this very much.
