My Forever Friend

by Cindy   Mar 19, 2007

Cute little girl with lots of brown curls
Naming me before I was born
Wanting a sister to play with you
Blessed with me on a sunny morn

Looking back on stories told
When I was just five months old
You no longer wanted a sister to play
Telling mom "throw her out in the cold"

When you were six I was three
Sometimes wanting to play with me
You were so important in my eyes
Just like you I wanted to be

Remembering you starting school
Feeling like you left me alone
Standing at the door waving bye
Watching the clock till you came home

We were teens becoming best friends
Leaving behind our childhood toys
Putting our dolls upon a shelf
Trading them for lipstick and boys

A few more years passed us by
Getting married you moved away
Feeling like I lost a part of me
Never forgetting how we cried that day

Now we're grown with kids of our own
Living close to each other again
We have weathered many storms
Yet you are still my forever friend

To my sister Debbie. Thank you for always being by my side. I love you more than words can ever convey.
