Clumsy Wordsmith (Lai).

by Steven Beesley   Jun 19, 2012

OK, so here goes. This is the second attempt as I completely forgot about the rhyme requirement the first time around so had to completely rework it.

****************************

Seek and you shall find
words and verse shall bind
in time.
Writing maligned,
to be realigned
to rhyme.
Verse that is confined
need to be refined
onetime.

Words come into mind,
verse I am inclined
to chime.
Writing not a grind
will let you unwind.
No crime.
My pen now aligned
with paper consigned.
sublime.

****************************

Lai:

Comprises of 5 syllabled couplets separated by a 2 syllabled line. The number of lines in a stanza is 9. Each group of couplets and 2 syllable lines follow the rhyme scheme "aab", this is derived from an old French form.

I adore this form, and this awesome poet, wrote this form with perfection! He tangled words and webbed my eyes with a delightful poem, that I will read over many times in the future.

I love this rhyme scheme and it made me travel to times when I myself have written this form and I actually felt scrambled and tongue tied afterword's.. ha ha. This poem was a delight to read and deserves to be highlighted! Well Done Steven Beesley
