Some Christmas Memories

I remember Christmas with overflowing apples,
butterflies in stomach,
watchful of the hands of the clock when it strikes twelve...

I remember little presents,
old socks filled with candies,
frozen mango cream cakes
and pasta all you can...

I remember lighted stars hanging on the roof,
blinking one after another,
I remember the garden bushes wrapped in rice lights...

I remember I forget how poor we are on Christmas day,
I get new clothes for church,
and my pockets are full of coins from the neighbors...

I remember simplicity and playfulness,
I remember warmth of a family,
and I remember you...

Nanay, Christmas won't be as special as it is without you.

    oh Lady Mel this is absolutely beautiful but so emotional and powerful as it reminds me of my own Nan at Christmas time as she'd come down on Christmas eve before the buses stopped and went back the day before we started back at school... we'd play loads of card games and do loads of fun things. I miss her too, I can feel your emotions throughout this piece.
