Night Stalker

by CJ Maleney   Mar 26, 2018

He seeks late into the night, lurking in the shadows unseen, unnoticed.

Moving from person to person looking for one special.

You know people like him exist, but they'll never come for you.

Will they?

Yet you have drawn attention to yourself, safe in your little bubble blissfully unaware,

!You have been noticed!

When your breathing slows and your eyes close.
When darkness wraps itself around you,

He calculates!

While you slumber he scrutinises,
He weighs and he measures,
Before disappearing once more into the abyss.

There are other possible victims and he must be sure.

Once more he returns to you,

His mind is set and you are to be his chosen.

There is no time for hesitation now!
He must act quickly and decisively.

The deed is swift and it's effects irreversible.

! NOMINATED !

Judging Comment - Night Stalker by CJ Maleney points 4 - a very clever piece which got me thinking and I came to the conclusion it was about people “night stalking” here on pnq.

I wasn't sure where I was going either

I had the idea but I wanted to do something away from rhyming. Rhymes are what I'm good at as they just flow things like this you have to construct. For me I find it difficult and nearly ended rhyming by accident

      Chuffed you liked it

This is not just your usual normal stalker...he is the one
who calculates, weighs and measures and decides if its your
time or not...as I read it I could on;y get the vision of "death"
scary...and I like the layout of this poem!
