Mobility Mayhem

by Milly Hayward   Sep 12, 2018

I have a new mobility scooter
with big wheels, lights and bag
It has a high pitched hooter
So I can race fast, and play tag

It has a slow and faster speed
with great miles, to a charge
Couldn't wish for a better steed
to over take that mad old Marge

I race along the pavement
with Mad Marge at my heels
she hit the kerb, on her descent
and broke one of her wheels

Can see Mr Wilkes in my sight
Just a few feet to my rear
must keep in front, during my flight
from the old man, with a leer

Maisie Jones is catching up
on her souped up Invacare
waves a hand with two fingers up
She shouts beat me if you dare

Its all down hill just feet away
I must give it all I've got
I've won, I've won the race today
I've beaten all the lot

What a wonderful piece of frivolity.

I think life for those with mobility issues must be pretty hard at times. However the author of this poem does not get hung up on the difficulties of life. Instead they take a light hearted approach and fill others with smiles. I certainly smiled and I loved this poem so much I shared it with my family.

    Thank you

Reading this is like falling down the rabbit hole into a new and strange world of amusing characters and mobility scooters!
A fine and funny post after a lengthy absence, Milly.

    All the best as ever,
    Ben

Thank you Michael for your lovely comments. :) To be honest its been a tough few months and I haven't felt at all like writing. I think the new mobility scooter (arriving next week) and the prospect of getting out and about again is really exiting for me and just the inspiration for this particular piece :) Milly x
