Autumnal Leaves

by ddavidd   Oct 26, 2018

O blooms
my eyes could hardly hold on to you now.
You only blush on my
paintbrush
thus!

O tree
winds are stroking your heir
I know
and erasing away the melancholy
of these autumnal leaves!

O brook
I know the current is glossing your face
from these falling of fatigues
and sweeping you
away from these sore of sorrows!

O my heart
if death is flaming upon these leaves
in the howling
of these lashing winds,
if again icicles
are going to show their canine fangs,
I know this tree would survive
until the days
of blooming
once more!

Bob, I really like this and could probably go on to say more, but I'll sum it up by quoting my favourite part that really hit hard:

    "O brook
I know the current is glossing your face
from these falling of fatigues "

Great work, good Sir. Thanks for sharing it with us all :)

I love this poem, I read it last week (I mean few days ago) , and then came to read it again. A not necessarily sad poem, but, nevertheless, it saddened me. I think we all read poetry from a personal state of mind (I don't mean I'm sad) but the tone I used in reading it reflected in my head a poet in a forest, surrounded with trees dressed in yellow and brown leafs, cold and wet..but alive. I appreciated the pinch of hope at the end of this piece. A very intriguing poem.
