Lava Pit:

by Scott Cole   Jun 6, 2019

My heart's like a volcano
Dormant but still alive,
For my bubbling concoction
Still stirs and thrives.

It's heated and steaming
So ready to explode,
But when that occurs
Nobody really knows.

Deep within it's crust
It's mixture just stews,
Waiting for it's spectacle
To boil over and spew.

It's a vision of misery
When it blows it's top,
For all of it's turmoil
Crash down like teardrops.

It burns to the core
It's enraged and irate,
A hot violent mess
Full of anger and hate.

It flows it's course
It takes it's sweet time,
For it's in no hurry
To release it's slime.

The pressure is overbearing
It's hard to contain,
It's easier to succumb
Than embrace it's pain.

Like a livid volcano
That begins to erupt,
My heart bleeds out
As I do self-destruct.
