The Magic of a Gift

by ddavidd   Jul 8, 2019

Their gifting spirits
live on in their absence
when I return their favour
by gifting others.

The gift is there,
already given,
we are only
the carriers.

You say ‘gift’ 4 times in the title and entirety of the poem, but it doesn’t suffocate the poem. Brave, really. It works though.

There’s always more in your poetry. If your presence is a gift for someone else, then every day you are gifting.

Thank you so much. I am not a fan of flattery. Therefore I like your comments, and see how agile and elastically you manoeuvre through egos to sink even one word. I am familiar with that. You are a teacher from within.
Yes, I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted by myself, that I am not a fan of flattery, but yours my friend now was love, and believe me, I and my poetry did not receive love in this site for years.
So thank you for that. And I shall remember.

Man. I'm getting obsessed with your work. Your writing style makes me feel at home. I admire the original style of yours. I have noticed that you actually have a character in writing. It's becoming easier to recognize your style. Hats off for that.

Thank you so much Your words are heartwarming in this chill-coma.
I spent all my life to write a few words, believe me, they are way deeper than anyone on this site is familiar with. Here though very few read my poems. I am wasting my time here, I know, but always a few people like you, pull me right back in. (All Pacino, Carlito's Way :)(:

A lovely piece that touches nicely on the gifting that never stops gifting. One of your best pieces that will resonate well with like minded people. Milly x

      Thank you kindly, Milly.
Haha I take that humour. Though hope IT doesn't become too Likeminded, like Borgs in star track movies, if you're familiar. This is the second time you said a poem of mine is "my" best, so it is good, I am improving. :) :)
      All the best
