After The Storm

by cassie hughes   Sep 30, 2020

Becalmed atop a mirrored sea
the storm has passed
its fury spent
in peace she sails unfettered, free

Once anchored tight to stony ground
her sails furled tight
forbid to fly
by cruel control imprisoned, bound

A chink of light broke through the sky
enough to point
to brighter paths
compass was set, she said goodbye

Becalmed atop a mirrored sea
the storm long passed
its fury spent
horizon called, her heart agreed.
