For the love of Gwen

by Brenda   Dec 10, 2020

Don't be sad
for me
I'm finally free-
My demons
no longer haunt
my every day-
-
I can breathe
again-
No more voices
in my head
shoving me under water-
-
This life is hard
the struggles are real-
Really love
one another
before that chance
is gone-
-
I have felt
True, pure love
through my family-
through my friends-
for that
I now rest peacefully-
-
And I live on-
Through so many
random strangers
that now
call me their own-
My final gift
to this world-
-
So, don't be sad
when my
favorite song
is played-
Or a time
Or a place
brings me to
your mind-
I'm right here
always-

This was written for a friend of mine whose sister in law passed recently. She had a life long struggle with alcohol and it finally killed her. She was 43. She also was an organ donor so they were able to harvest for others in need.

Someone taken before their time is always a sad topic to write about but you have given this lady dignity in your poem. Nicely written.

Do take care and all the very best as ever,
