Nature's Opus

by Jane Do-Re-Mi   Mar 23, 2021

You taught me about music
and how we can hear it anywhere
if we take time to listen.

The wind became my muse
after you left this earth.
At first I could only hear
it wail as my melancholy
mood filled my thoughts
but, as time passed I began
to realise what you meant
as melodic notes filled the
air.

The tree branches conducted
an orchestra and, as symphonies
were added it became
nature's opus.

Today the first daffodil appeared
and, I mused at how it resembled
a trumpet and once again I felt
close to you.

The gift of nature is lost on those self absorbed. If just one nature blind person reads this and becomes aware of a delicate sound or smell of nature, then this poem has worked a miracle. Nice work!
