On A Park Bench In Summer

by cassie hughes   Apr 2, 2021

Peaceful recollections blur sharp edges
as under summers sun time reverses.
Youth returns if only for a moment
allowing history to develop sepia tones.
Roses whisper of loving arms but
longevity weighs heavy on a lonely heart.
Heartbeat slows as shadow hand reaches,
takes hold, then draws spirit to paradise.

I love this. It's like you poured amber on someone being nostalgic at a park bench during summer. Nominated!
