Run away

by Skyfire   Jul 29, 2021

If you keep moving
you can't cry
if you keep running
you forget to ache
and listening to the
sound of your lungs
gasping
and the feel of your
heart pounding
you can sometimes
forget
that you
are insignificant.

Best short term and worst long term remedy for problems put into short and sweet words. I feel you’ve clearly described a part of the human condition here.

This made me think of being in "survival mode" or the ability to focus on the adrenaline, the sounds of breathing and footfalls and way you move, almost as a way to signify that you are still alive, your body is working with you. "insignificant" to me felt like not just personally insignificant to someone close to you, but to the world as well. The struggle of existing in society and contributing, yet wondering how much of an impact is truly possible. I know people say running away does not help or solve things, but sometimes, it can at least take your mind off of what needs to be processed, at least momentarily.
