Flying solo

If you had wings
would you fly solo?
or stay on the ground with loved ones
some say soar into the never ending sky
other discourage you
and you don't understand why
you think they are wrong
and that they are holding you back
from a better life
and so you go
leaving you friends and family behind
only with memories and pictures
nothing more
nothing is following you
but your ragged little shadow
no one to talk to
you can talk to your shadow
but he wont talk back
just listen
and that is good sometimes
but not forever
you become scared
you then think why?
why did i do this to myself?
you fly solo with your head hanging low
feeling sorry for yourself
but you are wrong
the ones you have left abandoned
now have deep scars of pain
and are hurt
you realize that you miss them
the warmth or their comfort
the bonds
the laughs
you decide that you need them
and that you cant go on with this solo life any longer
but what if they are still healing form this mess
fear of rejection spreads across you
alone
a scary word
who will be there when you fall?
no one
they're all gone
because they ve all been stepped on
you feel alone
abandoned
over time you seem to grow more invisible
for now you are that shadow
faintly disappearing..
