My Admiration

by Robert   Feb 4, 2005

To worship the foot steps you walk,
please sit with me so we can talk.
I have always had a vision in my eyes of you,
but I can’t get there with anything I do.
Your heart is kind and your soul is strong,
I try to walk in those foot steps but I continue to do wrong.
I lay awake knowing that you are truly my finest hour,
but as I go through life I feel my courage locked in a tower.
My play with words my abrupt wit that gives everyone a bite,
cast me only into darkness unable to see where is wisdom’s light.
I walk around like the blind bumping into wall after wall,
and I know I am one step away from feeling my final fall.
Still there is always that hope with time I will be like you,
a destiny that I know in my life will be true.
I pray to no God for he has never really listened to me,
I just hope I can be all the man I can be.
Alone in the silence and my admiration goes not to the living or dead,
for me it is the greater reason of what lies ahead.
I will not lower myself to mimic others that walk this earth’s crust,
for me I have to be the best Robert for that’s my must.
Maybe it is the future that I speak so fondly of,
for I feel that the man is worthy of any love.
I am 34 with along way still to go,
and from scars and lessons the man I want to be will show.
I still hunger for his time when I know that I will be alright,
equal to the task of over coming every fight.
I see the man I want to be and just stare,
hoping some day at last I am worthy to compare.
I will grant no drugs or lustful pride to tarnish my way,
for in my life it is the only thing that worthy for me to pray.
