Every Rose Has its Thorn

by Tara   Nov 3, 2003

We had a love just like a rose
So soft and sweet and new,
But every rose has its thorn,
One ruined me and you.

You told me it was over,
I faced you with a smile.
But inside I was dying,
I lived life in denial.

I thought you might come back
Every night, I'd wait for you,
Hoping you still loved me
And that your lies weren't true.

That rose, once red and blooming,
Now dying more and more,
My fading hope killed and dropped
The petals to the floor.

You left, you're gone, its over
My bleeding heart is torn,
The love is gone, our rose is dead,
You've killed me with its thorn.

I liked the meaning portrayed, again I think so many people can relate to this poem in their own way because you didn't just write this for you, you wrote it for other people experiencing the same issues. A capturing piece. Enjoyabe. ~Mel

that was a great poem! good job! the same thing happened to mean, and the only problem is is that we still hang out sometimes because we have the same friends... and seeing him flirting with/dating my friends still hurt, even a year after we broke up.
