Devoted Companion (Sonnet - Wordsworth)

by Steven Beesley   Aug 30, 2005

Devoted Companion:

You greet me each time like it were the first
When you see me, you jump for joy and dance
Never dull, always my life you enhance
Your golden curls look to me like starburst

Always happy, never one for the worst
Resting your soft head, content in my lap
So sweet dreams you have when taking a nap
Elated are you when I quench your thirst

The times that we have all seem to fly by
You want for nothing, there is never strife
We go for long walks, it makes you so high
You never complain, not like my dear wife

So innocently you look in my eye
Sweet little puppy dog, joy in my life

Sonnet - Wordsworth
A sonnet with a rhyming scheme that was adopted by Wordsworth - abbaacca/dedede. It has 14 lines and 10 syllables per line.
