Status Quo.

by Steven Beesley   Feb 17, 2006

In situ we as a race appear to
all be, going around in
ever decreasing tiny circles.
Like a swimmer treading water.

How far have we progressed?
With all the materialistic instincts
and our increasing immorality, we
are fighting a losing battle.

A war that we have always waged
on ourselves, with all the
insanity of an eye for an
eye, a tooth for a tooth.

Much of which revolving on
politics and religion.
We have lost our perspective
of our roots and from whence we came?

We so dearly and daily
strive for our oblivion, soon
to join the dinosaurs in our
own inevitable extinction.

But this earth will begin anew,
choose or replacement as we
had been given our time and
did not use it wisely.

Our licence to survive shall
surely be revoked, in the final
picture of time we will only have
been a small chapter in the grand scheme.

Steven , I must say the 2nd last stanza is definately the eye catcher .

Filled with so much meaning and truth that some do not take seriously or simply choose to ignore .

I need not tell you how amazing your poetry is for your words speak for themselves.
Truthfully written , wonderfully expressed Steven .
