X These Ten Lives (Vivisection)

by Sole   Mar 19, 2006

Ten needles lay out on a table
Five men in white coats check their list
Ten unlucky dogs, dragged from their cages
And each with a needle kissed

They bark and howl for a while
Before the scientists clamp their mouths shut
Muzzles are bound so tigtly
That into the flesh they cut

Only a matter of hours
A dog collapses from what is inside
And not so long after him
Three of the ten have died

The others go unneeded
And suffocate in Co2
Seven wasted lives
And no benefit for me, or you

Each animal is forgotten
Nothing but numbers on pages
And ten more enter the lab
To fill the empty cages.

I'm an animal lover and this really showed what happens with animal testing, it went together beautifully and i loved it.

That was a sad piece on animal testing, I had to write a paper about that so I'm all for your view. So good points for message, the rhyming was good and everything

Wow...it's so weird how it's human nature for us to care so much for pets/animals. I love this poem...it really helps people understand what goes on behind closed doors and labs.

    "Each animal is forgotten
    Nothing but numbers on pages
And ten more enter the lab
    To fill the empty cages."

...great way to end the poem I thought. It kinda makes it seem like the poem will repeat itself with a part 2 or something.

So sad, but very well-written! 5/5
