Hopeless

by EoB   May 16, 2006

Up from the dawning east,
there rose no hope today.
We were the first to come,
the last to turn away.

We scanned the red horizon,
our eyes were filled with tears.
The signs were draped with anguish;
No hope for many years.

We felt alike the shadows,
that reached toward the west.
To where could we now wander
to find our only rest?

No heart can dwell forever,
with love for only one,
It`s strange how clear we see it
when everything is gone.

    Loved the rhyme scheme. Flawless as usual. You always write with such beauty. Though this was a sad poem, you used such wonderful phrases.
