Song of darkness

by EoB   Oct 9, 2006

Though be this hour dark and cold,
and in the faintest rain,
thousand restless whispers
seek to bring you down again.

And in the ghostly distance,
stands the mightiest of trees,
all but naked in the darkness,
left to die where no one sees.

But you, my friend, you see it,
as you cling to things you know,
(how the sunlight always finds you,
how the shadows come and go)

And I think, my friend, you know it
you are wealthier than me,
for you see beyond the darkness,
you are lost, but you are free.

This has got to be one of my favorites of yours. Absolutely beautifully done.
The flow was without flaw and such a wonderful imagery.

But you, my friend, you see it,
as you cling to things you know,
(how the sunlight always finds you,
how the shadows come and go)

Wonderful stanza. My favorite in a exquisite write.
