Darkness

by Cindy   Nov 28, 2006

The dark hole of depression,

not everyone knows what it is like.

Just those who live it everyday,

and have to fight the fight.

It's one of the hardest,

you'll have in your life.

The darkness the loneliness,

the feeling of wanting to end your life.

I was always one who snubbed my nose,

"that will never be me" I'm always happy can't you see?

I love everyone and they love me.

Then one day my husband died,

Depression took hold and all I do is cry.

I wound up falling into the dark hole,

Down and down it won't let go.

The loneliness is so unfair I have no one to love me,

Hug me hold my hand and say I care.

No one to hug in the middle of the night, when I wake up scared,

Just darkness and silence is all that is there.

friends and loved ones try to help me,

I turn them away.

Can't they see I need to be alone in my misery?

Just waiting in the dark.

Its very true, not everyone can understand this horrible thing unless they have been there in the fight.

"I love everyone and they love me."

i used to think this, i try so hard still to believe this. makes you think the depression cant be if your loved.

the feelings in this poem are expressed so clearly, and i can feel the pain in you when i read. i do hope this isnt still the case and that you have moved on in life with good things.

i really do enjoy your work and will continue to read your stuff xxx
