Sophie

My faithful friend,
you were always with me
till the very end.
I will miss you so very much.
The way your fur felt to the touch.
The way you liked to chase the squirrels.
You always like to hear "good girl."
The way you laid upon my feet.
How excited you got when I said "doggy treat".
You would follow me from room to room.
You always hid when the thunder boomed.
You were always such a good mom to your pups.
I remember your sad eyes when we had to give them up.
You watched over our family both day and night.
I always knew your bark was worse than your bite.
You have been my friend for 15 years now.
You always knew when something was wrong,
I still wonder how?
Your getting old and in alot of pain.
My loss will be Heavens gain.
I'll miss you sweet Sophie,
I'll think of you everyday.
In Heaven you'll be able to run and play.
No more pain for you.
You paid your earthly dues.
Sleep tight my faithful friend.
Remember I loved you to the very end.

What a beautifully moving write, Cindy, and one I can well relate to. I had a black Labrador growing up, and her loss is still one of the saddest days of my life - it took months to get over. Unless you've had a dog, you don't understand.
"My loss will be Heaven's gain" - wonderful.
    All the very best,
    Ben

Awwwh, this was so very sweet.
It's always painful to lose a pet, I still miss the dog I had when I was 15.
I enjoyed the imagery you used in this, and I thought the ending was fantastic.
