Spreading My Wings

by Cindy   Apr 11, 2007

Your love moved my heart
Like the ocean moves the sand
Crashing like waves on the beach
You were there to take my hand

Drowning me in your words
Like a slowly sinking ship
Churning up my emotions
While gently kissing my lips

We weathered all life's storms
Like the lite-house on the hill
Surviving natures furies
Till death left an icy chill

Like a lonely piece of driftwood
Washed up on another shore
Left me floating all alone
Waiting to be with you once more

Like the gulls soaring gracefully
Up in the wondrous sky
Soon I will spread my wings
And into your arms I'll fly

Miss you John

    "Surviving natures furies
Till death left an icy chill" -- and so do those lines gave me the chills...

This was, yet again, a beautiful piece. I was rendered speechless, yet captivated by the descriptions that you've penned, vividly, in this poem. My real pleasure to read. Thank you for sharing.
Hope you all the best in life and take care.
    Love,

    First off, amazing job.
It was heartbreaking to read, though amazing. It was a wonderful dedication to your husband. Just from your poems, I can tell you miss him terribly.

    "Your love moved my heart
Like the ocean moves the sand
Crashing like waves on the beach
You were there to take my hand"

^ By far, my favorite stanza! Just wow. The imagery in this poem was flat-out perfect. Spectacular job, keep writing! 5/5
