Fairytales and daydreams,
Just illusions before my eyes,
Telling me everything is alright,
Filling me with lies.

Friendly smiles and kind words,
Just another facade,
Telling me they care,
Hiding the plans they've made.

Tears and fake smiles,
A terrible reality,
Telling of pain within,
Expressing emotions no one else can see.

Dark days and waking nightmares,
Never to disappear,
Telling of unhappy existence,
Creating lives of fear.

Broken promises and silent screams,
A final message to all,
Telling how a soul is broken,
Demonstrating that even the best fall.

Haunted eyes and torn up hearts,
Proving the past is real,
Telling that memories cause pain,
Showing why I've chosen not to feel.
