Wyoming.

by Poet on the Piano   May 15, 2015

We make love to this state
as if it's the only home that
has brewed upon our lips. The
Rocky Mountains are our lullaby
while we try to sleep in country
towns too often havocked by
tornadoes and minstrel gossip.

Our dreams, I fear, are too
aerial for this farmland.

We sing to a native land in
our free time, so we don't
discourage our hearts from
the truth of us - how we'll
soon hike along the Wind
River Canyon and sweat
wildflowers and raise sunlight
within log cabins.

We will love, wherever our
shadows dance to, wherever
they sing of a love only
for us.

I definitely love this! This is definitely beautiful! (: I really love when someone uses a certain place as a title a make a beautiful piece of poetry out of it. I love the feel of the poem, though there is a tint o nostalgia to it. I love how you attack the reader through their heart and sentiments with this piece. There is always things that we hold dear in our hearts, and no matter how many miles we drive away from it, it will always have our hearts. We will always be reminded of everything about it and the things that are always a part if us. And the fact that you have written this for 'B' is really touching (: Added to favorites (: Great job here (:

This is really beautiful, MA. I feel so many different things and can find so many different meanings here, which is something your poetry often does to me. I absolutely love that.

Wyoming is a beautiful state, but I assume someone special lives, grew up, or visited here, perhaps with you? Not sure the true meaning behind it, but places hold such value in our hearts when someone we truly care for is attached to it. Love the small town feel you pulled into this poem, but also the limitations you felt from that.. like love truly knows no bounds. Beautifully written!
